Women in Technology (WIT) is doing it again. On May 11th, the 17th Annual Leadership Awards Gala will reveal the names of the 2017 winners. The Awards are WIT’s way of identifying and recognizing women leaders from companies around the DC Region. A history of the Leadership Awards was recently captured here quoting 3WD Founder, Trish Barber.
The story behind this photo provides an example of how WIT helps female leaders inspire other female leaders. Pictured in this photo from left to right are:
- Trish Barber, President Elect of WIT and former Chair of Girls in Technology
- Dan Tra, a teacher at Falls Church High School, is a huge proponent of Girls in Technology’s programs. Several of Dan’s students have been GIT Scholarship winners. He brings his winners to the Leadership Awards as a way of inspiring them into STEM careers
- Babs Doherty, Founder of Eagle Ray was a benefactor of the GIT Scholarship Program providing winning applicants with cash and STEM experiences to further their STEM education
- Five GIT Scholarship winners
- Jenny Oh, winner of the 2016 Unsung Hero award largely because of her work exposing young women to STEM opportunities
