Challenge – Having won the contract to become the 2020 Census Technical Integrator in 2016, T-Rex was helping the United States Census Bureau break technology barriers being faced by many government agencies. They were also growing by leaps and bounds. T-Rex therefore needed to prepare for the spotlight that would ultimately shine on them in early 2020. As the Technical Integrator for the project, they were charged with modernizing the IT infrastructure. This took place in an environment where cybersecurity was paramount and the political climate around the collection of non-citizen data was charged and changing right up to program execution on April 1, 2020. T-Rex needed to build a marketing capability that gave them strategic and operational support while helping them look the part of a top-tier government IT contractor since they were now competing against much larger firms for their next government agency contract.
Solution – Hire an external marketing organization that would assess and build the skills of internal team members, establish marketing processes, advise senior executives and build the company’s reputation in the government IT marketplace.
Overview – T-Rex hired 3WaysDigital in August of 2018 to assist in the roll out of their rebranding effort. T-Rex was relatively unknown prior to January of 2019 grew to become the #1 provider of cloud services for the federal government in 2019. As the 2020 Census news coverage increased, they wanted help navigating the communication landscape. 3WD went on to support all internal and external marketing efforts as they successfully executed on the 2020 Census contract. The executive team needed an agreed upon marketing strategy and plan for bringing internal and external communication practices and channels to the next level.
